Digital Product & Battery Passport Software Development
NeuraTech AI provides software development and consulting for Digital Product Passport (DPP) and battery passport projects. We address data modelling, information exchange, access management and lifecycle tracking, with on-premise deployment options tailored to project needs.
EnquireWhat is a Digital Product Passport?
A Digital Product Passport connects information about a product’s identity, components and lifecycle in a digital format. It supports access to information from production and use through repair and recycling. In the EU, implementation progresses through product-specific rules.
European Commission: DPP framework ↗EU BATTERIES REGULATION · ARTICLE 77
18 February 2027
Battery passports are required for electric vehicle batteries, light means of transport batteries and industrial batteries above 2 kWh placed on the EU market or put into service from this date. It is not a single DPP start date for every product group.
EU Batteries Regulation: Articles 77–78 ↗From data to a working DPP infrastructure
We approach battery passports as a project combining data, software and process design. Our development and consulting scope covers:
- 01Data analysis and modelling
- Identifying passport data fields, existing sources and data owners, and designing data models and update processes.
- 02Unique identity and access
- Linking product and battery identifiers to passport records and developing QR access and resolution flows.
- 03APIs and interoperability
- Designing and developing information exchange between DPP data services, enterprise system interfaces and stakeholders.
- 04Authorisation and data integrity
- Implementing roles, access policies, data validation rules and change logs within software processes.
- 05Storage, backup and continuity
- Designing systems and service processes for data storage, backup and continued availability.
- 06On-premise software solutions
- Developing DPP components and data services within the organisation’s infrastructure, with support for reporting and operations.
From passport records to authorised access: an example data flow
This example explains how data models, APIs and access management connect. On-premise deployment is considered alongside these data and service flows.
Identity and data model
The battery identifier is linked to production, composition and performance data in the passport record. The data model identifies the source of each field and who will update it.
Information exchange through APIs
Information exchange between enterprise systems and stakeholders is designed through APIs and DPP data services. Validation of incoming data and update processes are considered together.
QR access and roles
A QR code leads to the relevant passport record through its unique identifier. Roles and access policies determine which data a user can access; the QR code is an entry point to this data infrastructure.
Change records and continuity
Data updates are considered alongside change logs and storage processes. Backup, availability and reporting requirements form part of the software and service design.

Data topics in a battery passport
The data scope is assessed against the battery category and applicable requirements. A passport model can bring together:
- Identity and production
- Battery identity, production location and date, category and responsible economic operator.
- Materials and composition
- Battery chemistry, critical raw materials and component information.
- Sustainability
- Records relating to environmental indicators such as carbon footprint and recycled content.
- Performance and durability
- Capacity, energy, power, state of health (SoH) and service-life information.
- Conformity information
- Labels, declarations of conformity, test information and safety instructions.
- Circularity and lifecycle
- Information relating to maintenance, repair, dismantling, second life and recovery.
The right information at the right access level
Public information and data reserved for authorised stakeholders have different access levels. We address access rights, business confidentiality and data integrity throughout the passport lifecycle.
Let’s define the scope of your DPP project.
Share your product or battery category, existing data sources and system needs. We can assess the data model, integration and deployment scope together.

Questions about this service
- How does a DPP differ from a battery passport?
- DPP describes the digital information framework for products, components and materials. A battery passport is an application of that approach for battery categories defined by the EU Batteries Regulation. Other product groups have requirements set through their respective rules.
- Is a battery passport just a QR code?
- The QR code provides access to the passport through a unique battery identifier. The supporting infrastructure manages data storage, updates, validation, access rights and information exchange between systems.
- Do you offer on-premise deployment?
- Yes. We can develop solutions that run within an organisation’s own infrastructure according to project requirements. Data management, authorised stakeholder access and necessary exchanges with external systems are designed together.
